Arkansas Medical Record Access Laws
Some health care providers do not have to follow the HIPAA Privacy Rule. These providers must still follow Arkansas laws that give you the right to see and get a copy of your medical record. The Arkansas law that gives you these rights can be found in title 16, Subtitle 4, Chapter 46, subchapter 1 (Arkansas Code Section 16-46-106). (Even though this section looks like it only applies to records requested for court cases, the Arkansas State Board of Medicine interprets it broadly to apply to all requests.)
