The School Choice Demonstration Project (SCDP) has announced plans to conduct a comprehensive, five-year evaluation of education reform in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The longitudinal study will focus primarily on the effects of the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program (MPCP) K-12 education scholarships on individual students, public schools and communities.
It will also study public charter schools and the factors that influence student achievement in MPCP private schools, charter schools and the Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS).
The evaluation by the SCDP and its research partners will be the first evaluation of the MPCP, using student-level data, in more than ten years. The evaluation will produce thirty-five separate
reports over a five-year span, including comprehensive annual examinations of student academic achievement in the MPCP, called “performance reports,” as well as a more rigorous longitudinal study of
program effects on student achievement gains.
